Dr. Solar Tze

Dr. Solar Tze (Ho Tze) was born and raised in Calgary. He completed his Biological Science degree from the University of Calgary and is happy to be back after finishing his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo with honours. During his studies, he completed a research project on congenital stationary night blindness and myopia (nearsightedness). Dr. Tze continues to pursue his passion for travel and community, spanning 40+ countries and multiple mission trips to Honduras, USA, and Mexico to help those in need of schooling and eye care. He volunteered regularly with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Mobile Eye Clinic for seniors and Foundation Fighting Blindness. Dr. Tze completed his externships at the Lexington Veterans Hospital in Kentucky with a focus on glaucoma and retinal disease and in Calgary trained under with an optometrist specializing in Vision Therapy.

Dr. Tze is passionate to care for his fellow Albertans and is looking forward to building those relationships for years to come. On his spare time you’ll see him hiking in the Rockies and playing sports.

Message to patients: the eye is an amazing and complex piece of machinery. Unfortunately parts can deteriorate and can be permanent without treatment. See annual exams as insurance against losing your quality of life and vision, money well spent. .

 

Dr. Nick Continisio

Dr. Nick Continisio was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He completed his BSc in Biology at McMaster University and received his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. At the University of Waterloo, he developed a special interest in dry eye, glaucoma, and binocular vision disorders. He completed a disease rotation at the Waterloo Health Sciences Optometry Clinic. He has also worked at TLC and LASIK MD eye surgery centers and has ample experience with pre- and post-operative corrective eye surgeries. While in school, Dr. Nick had the opportunity to provide eye exams to the homeless and refugee families. After working as an optometrist in Ontario, Dr. Nick and his wife fulfilled their dream of moving out west and are proud to now call Alberta their home. Dr. Nick has a passion for pediatric optometry, but enjoys caring for patients of all ages. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking, writing music, and cooking. He is also interested in ancient history and philosophy.

Message for patients: I am always excited to welcome patients to the clinic! I firmly believe in a holistic approach to health care and love to get to know my patients and their visual needs, hobbies, occupation, and health history. This information enables me to perform a personalized,medically-thorough eye exam that ensures patients specific eye care needs are addressed and their eyesight is as good as possible.

Dr. Lillian Rieck

Dr. Lillian Rieck grew up in the Calgary area. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph before completing her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo with honours. Through her internships in Olds Alberta, Victoria BC, and at the Veteran Affairs hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Dr. Rieck gained knowledge and experience in the management of ocular disease and therapeutics. In October 2019 she participated in an eye care volunteer trip in Yreka, California serving the Karuk Tribe and hopes to continue to give back on future trips!

Since graduating and starting to practice, Dr. Rieck has focused on providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages - starting with infants as young as 6 months old-she loves kids! She enjoys learning how each patient uses their eyes, and making recommendations that work with their lifestyle. She is interested in educating patients about their eyes, dry eye, and myopia control. 

Away from the office she enjoys travelling, or can be found hiking in the mountains. She is passionate about figure skating and has won 2 silver medals at the World Synchronized Skating Championships.  

Message to patients: Vision is the most important sense, it’s important to have regular eye exams to ensure your eyes are healthy and that your vision is the best it can be!
